PAPER TIGER // THE SLOW REVOLT // COREYSAN

PAPER TIGER THE SLOW REVOLT COREYSAN STEVIE BEAR LITTLEBOSELECTA - Full Moon Doors 8.30pm - 2am Free before 9.30pm £3 after // PAPER TIGER // "Sparkling live future bass music. Puts together all that's best about current electronic music. Intricate but punchy, weird but very wonderful." - Mixmag Paper Tiger began life many years ago as a bedroom experiment: produced future hip-hop, broken beat and dub incorporating live instruments and musicians. Since then the project has gone from strength to strength, with their early demos gaining support from Radio 1, 1xtra and more. Their free releases, and remixes of DELS (Big Dada), Stac and Scrimshire (Wah Wah 45s), Sneaky (Big Chill) and Dark Sky (Black Acre, Ninja Tune) were met with universal acclaim. The full live band has been performing these productions and more to packed out audiences across Europe. The shows are a fully live, uninterrupted mix of spaced-out hip-hop, broken beats, electronica and more: no pre-recording or backing tracks, just furious pushing of buttons and flailing of limbs. The band has shared some of the country's most prestigious stages and festival bills with the likes of Hexstatic, Dam Funk, Jaga Jazzist, The Heatwave, The Bug and Warrior Queen, Rustie, Tokimonsta, Nightmares On Wax, The Herbaliser, TM Juke & Alice Russell, The Bays, Bonobo, Krafty Kuts, Freq Nasty, Mary-Anne Hobbs, Benji B, Daedelus, Gaslamp Killer, Bonobo and Amon Tobin, as well at loads of festivals across Europe. // THE SLOW REVOLT // 'A cutting-edge throwback to the early days of blues, or the yearning new voice of formalist electronica? If nothing else, The Slow Revolt is a study in contrasts: lush, romantic lyricism tied to art-school high concept; tight beats coupled with wild guitar abstractions; and a stunning voice that stays with you long after the music fades. First made visible via his rework of Patten's Peachy Swan, The Slow Revolt's first single, This Dark Matter / Doldrums was two hymns to a dead affair that struck a chord with XfM, Clash, 6music and Radio1 - as well as earning the support slot for MMOTHS recent tour, Ofei, America's Balmorhea, and four dates for new label FIELDS with Max Cooper and Ghosting Season. Originally one man carving out his own rough territory outside today's increasingly formulaic electronica, The Slow Revolt now performs as a two-piece - two expert musicians sparring across live loops, precision triggered beats, guitar, and that voice.' "Stunning" - John Kennedy, XFM "We fall harder for The Slow Revolt with every listen, you will too" - The Line of Best Fit "Full of poise and precision, there's an inherent drama to the performance which is difficult to deny" – Clash // COREYSAN // Coreysan is a mysterious, soulful, rootsy, bass driven musician who brings an entirely new flavour to the electronic scene. Steering clear of imposed genres, Coreysan describes his music as Electronic Caribbean World Fusion. The powerfully spirited islands of Trinidad and Tobago that is his homeland brings a Caribbean sound that is combined exquisitely with driving electronic soundscapes, soulfully earthy bass work and the hauntingly ethereal Theremin. Raspy, soothing vocals complement the music with a storyteller approach to his lyrical compositions, reminiscent of Calypso with a universe perspective. A deep love for eastern/old world music has further influenced Coreysan's style, giving the music a deeply spiritual sheen.
